[ Digital Infrared artists statement ]
My photographs examine properties of light inaccessible to the naked eye.
The photos serve as a window into the world of infrared, and each image
becomes an investigation into a mysterious light we cannot see.

Infrared light is radiation just outside the range of normal human
eyesight.  Digital cameras are naturally sensitive to infrared light and
when the visible spectrum is blocked, the camera captures light we cannot perceive.

I use infrared photography to transform the ordinary into a surreal
universe, familiar yet alien. Trees and plants glow a luminous shade of
green, and water absorbs infrared and turns an obsidian black.  The
images draw our attention to an entire world concealed from our everyday
view but is there, just beyond sight.

[ the equipment ]
For my infrared photos I use a Sony F828 digital camera. I use various combinations of filters including Harrison&Harrison infrared filters, B+W ND106, Hoya ND400, Rodenstock Deep Red 29.
